Bookham Circular Walk
16 brave people and a dog set out on this walk the planning of which and thrown up numerous worries around pub numbers, lunch choice meeting point and travel amongst others but the patron saint of wakers (whoever that is and if unknown or not yet elected I shall ask for nominations- St Margaret perhaps) smiled on us. The sun shone ,the birds tweeted, the pub was welcoming terrain was okay and there were smiles on 16 faces when we arrived back at the car park Not sure about the dog he was snoring in his car when last seen Can be a sign of happiness in dogs
The easiest route is down the A3 and take the exit to Effingham which is signposted before you cross the M25 and is part of the M25 interchange roundabout (it will make sense when you get there). Then follow signs and your sat nav to Little Bookham past Effingham Junction station etc. Take the left fork before Bookham station, up to the car park and meeting point. If you go past the station you have gone too far!
Bookham common is an area of SSI. The route takes in woodland , wide open spaces , the varied architecture of middle England Surrey belt; lots of horses all kept safely away from the likes of us and some mud. Gaiters recommended
The Black Swan table booked for 12 noon They have asked us to pre book by Wednesday Jan 16th at the latest so please see attached menu and let me know your choice ASAP (late comers can be accommodated but there will be a penalty).
It is a large pub with good food but at least 2 other large groups have booked in on the day so it is in our own interest to get our food orders in promptly
Muddy boots and dogs appear to be acceptable
