NDW-Gomshalll to Westhumble

It was a wonderful late autumn / early winter day that saw a group of us arriving successfully at Gomshall staion for the next stage of the North Downs Way. Some steep climbs but gorgeous views made it all worthwhile Great through leaves walking made us all feel young again and a warm welcoming pub at the end
The only downside the trains seem to have got it in for the LWG and again we faced a cancelled service But not to worry,an extra miles walk took usto Dorking station where we were able to catch the train we would have got if we had stayed in the same place Makes sense to those of us on the walk
Train Out: Clapham Junction 8.52, Waterloo 9.00, 1 change, arrives Gomshall 10.03. Back: trains every half hour from Westhumble to Clapham Junction and Victoria.
am from Gomshall we climb up to the North Downs way and cross White Down and Ranmore Common to reach Westhumble for lunch
Pub: Stepping Stones in Westhumble If too busy there are other eateries in Westhumble
s we already know the North Downs Way is not as easy as it seems! I think the solution is to do a seven mile morning walk from Gomshall to West Humble for a late lunch, and then get home before it gets dark. Then the stages are easier, with 10 mile stretches between stations – I hope. If not we will do some circular walks including N Downs stretches.
So an early start, sorry. The next trainafter the 9.00 to Gomshall does not arrive until just before midday. And I will try to make sure the pub is expecting us and we do not have another 1 hour wait for sandwiches. It would be helpful if you could let me know if you plan to join this walk Margaret M
