Haslemere circular
A splendid walk although a little muddy in places that helped to test parts not used for a while
Travel: There is a train from Waterloo at 8.30, arriving 9.34. Haslemere station car park charges £2 on Sundays. Return trains to Waterloo run roughly every half hour.
This is a circular walk through beautiful woodland and heathland, much of it belonging to the National Trust. The path in the afternoon skirts Black Down, the highest point in Sussex, but does not climb right to the top. If the weather is fine there should be good views. The path is undulating and likely to be muddy, particularly in the section immediately after lunch.
lunch: the Red Lion in Fernhurst 01428 643112. A Fullers pub. A typical menu and a table is booked for 12.30
