If you drive, you are recommended to check google when leaving. At time of writing, it suggests that from Hammersmith you cross river at Putney and take A3 past Guildford until Milford, where you take a left for A283 south, through Chiddingfold and Petworth. At Fittleworth you turn right down the B2138. Three miles later this merges with A29 south, from which you turn left two miles later into village of Bury following minor road for two miles south to Houghton where you turn left for the last mile along the B2139 to Amberley station on your right.
Alternatively, turn left off A3 sooner, taking A243 past Chessington and reaching A24 at Leatherhead, past Dorking, past Horsham until just before Washington where you turn right along the A283 for Storrington. In Storrington, turn left along the B2139 to Amberley. About three miles on from Storrington, ignore the right hand turning into the village of Amberley itself and this road brings you on to Amberley station on your left.
