Godalming and Environs
The windows were rattling, the doors blowing open, large branches were down on the common,no lunch time pub and there were yellow weather warnings on the forecast site. Why go for an eight mile walk in the Godalming environs? Answer - to have a good day out with friends.6 of us set off from the station well clad in water proofs. The worst of the weather was abating and we made good time along the river side (noticed no ducks around-too wet for them!)across good open countryside and, joy of joys, we were allowed into the pub and able to order a drink -good beer- and surreptitiously eat our sandwiches. There were no takers for the walk extension but we were dry, with a good healthy glow when we arrived back at the station. A day well worth getting out of bed for.

Route- from the station out along the River Wey towards Eashing across the A3 via footbridge to Pepperharrow then Shackleford, Hurtmore and back to the station the way we came
