Woburn
A delightful walk around the Woburn estate and the picturesque villages of the environs which was very much enjoyed by 14 members. there was the added bonus of a cricket match to keep us entertained over lunch Could one have had a more ideal English day out?
By car up M1. Google is best to take account of traffic conditions. Normally 1 hour 15 mins from West London, using exit 11A or 12 from M1. As you enter town of Woburn on A4012, car park is signposted to the right at town centre. There is no convenient station.
Walk is quite leisurely with only 140m of ascent, gently undulating Bedfordshire countryside, including several plantations of various ages. Fine view of Woburn Abbey.
Lunch: Please bring picnic for quite early lunch on cricket green at Brook End, where there are some benches. There is a nearby pub (Green Man at Brook End) at which anyone who wishes may get a drink, but booking for our number is not possible, and food service is slow anyway
There are gardens open in the town of Woburn that day. £5 a ticket, to support the Woburn Heritage Centre Museum.

As the walk is not so long we should have time to look at a few at the end of the walk if you wish, but they are only open 10.30-4.30.
Covid restrictions are reduced but we still need to know who is on the walk. You do not need to prebook the walk or lunch, but Andy and I will keep a list of who is on the walk. As we are still in covid times obviously don’t come if you feel ill, bring your mask, hand gel, don’t share etc.
As always I (Margaret M) will try to keep up with covid restrictions and let you know if there is any change.
