Prices Risborough & Chinnor Hill Walk

9 (swelling to 11 after lunch) very lucky people had the advantage of a stupendous walk through lovely countryside in glorious spring weather , brilliantly led by Judy and Martin with a good traditional pub lunch- not a gastro diner in sight. Some ups and downs allowing great views and reassuring us that we were all still capable despite the years catching up with us

Supporting comment I can only reiterate the thanks of others for a lovely walk yesterday. No wonder you marked it as your favourite in your Chilterns walks book. It was beautiful, peaceful countryside with delightful surprises along the way and good weather too.
Spectacular vistas, and charming pub, churches, cottages, primroses etc etc. Definitely worth venturing out a bit further from London, and even to somewhere inaccessible by train. Thank you also to everybody for putting up with my slow plodding. It's very shaming to have certain people substantially older than me just zipping up those hills!
An excellent April Chilterns walk, peppered with primroses and other delights! Andy

Travel:

Take M40 to Junction 5. Turn right to take the A40 to Stokenchurch. Drive through Stokenchurch then after a field and a large lay-by, turn left down road signed Radnage and Water End. Continue on this road, down hill on to Bower Lane, past a cottage on the right to a large lay-by on the left where we can park about six cars. If you get to Bottom Road you have gone too far.

There is no convenient train, so please use the Yahoo Group email and/or the LWG Directory to offer and find lifts.

Route:

A remote, circular route in the Chiltern Hills, along part of the Ridgeway, and across the Chiltern Hundreds and the Three Hundreds of Aylesbury. Rolling hills, beech woods and dry valleys but superb views throughout. Ups and downs and a few stiles. Poles and gaiters recommended. The scenic highlight is the extensive vista across the Vale of Aylesbury from the top of Chinnor Hill. About 2 and a half hours before lunch and 3 hours after.
